Synergy Sports Celebrates International Women’s Day

The 2021 International Women’s Day is focused on the theme of “Choose to Challenge”. The official description of the theme is:

A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.

We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.

From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge.

The theme speaks to us at an individual level and how the small steps and actions we all make can contribute to significant societal change. As an organization focused on sports technology, Synergy Sports would like to celebrate our partner Women’s Basketball leagues around the world. As Women’s leagues are experiencing unprecedented success in terms of popularity, reach, and digital audiences, we especially want to acknowledge the athletes who inspire young girls and boys around the world to work hard and dream big.

Since the launch of the FIBA Connected Stadium in 2019, Synergy Sports has partnered with Women’s Basketball leagues and federations around the world to expand their reach through automated content capture, production, and distributing games to OTT platforms, social channels, broadcast partners and any other channel important to engaging existing and new fans.

Discussing the importance of growing Women’s Basketball, Synergy Sports CEO Mark Silver said: “Through our FIBA Connected Stadium, we want to play a leading role in growing the Women’s game on all levels. We aim to use our technology to reach more fans than ever before and create more opportunities for Women’s leagues to expand and flourish.”

In celebrating our partner leagues, we reached out directly to some of our colleagues working in women’s leagues around the world to discuss the success they are having in reaching record numbers of fans. Lili Borisova, Manager of Statistics and Scouting for the Bulgarian Basketball Federation, speaks to the importance of elevating Women’s Basketball content, “Thanks to Synergy Sports, the Bulgarian Basketball Federation provides the same standard of production and streaming services to tier 1 Women’s games in Bulgaria as we do for the top Men’s league. With the FIBA Connected Stadium set up in our venues, women’s games now reach bigger audiences than ever before, which is a crucial step in the right direction towards gender equality in our sport.”

Liga Goldmane, Director of the LSBL Women’s League has this to say about Synergy Sports’ impact on women’s basketball in Latvia, “Synergy Sports has played a big role in promoting women’s basketball in our country. With their support, live broadcasts of women’s league basketball games are being shown nationwide. This has been very important in drawing more public attention to women’s sports in our country and allowing us to grow the game, especially among women and girls.”

This International Women’s Day, please take a look at some of our Women’s Basketball partners, and join us in thanking them for what they do on a daily basis to inspire, enable, and energize women and girls everywhere.
