The Central American and Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 got underway on April 15 at the José Adolfo Pineda National Gymnasium in the city of San Salvador, El Salvador.
Five teams (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guyana, Jamaica and Nicaragua) are competing in a round robin style competition, with the top three teams advancing to the second round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Pre-Qualifiers in July.
With the games taking place in a FIBA Connected Stadium, Synergy Sports has partnered with FIBA Americas to utilize the technology to stream games to the 1.1+ Million followers of FIBA’s YouTube channel. The feed from the games are also distributed to Tigo Sports, a domestic TV channel in El Salvador.
In capturing and producing official FIBA competition games, extensive work was completed ahead of the games to update the look and feel of Synergy’s patented EVO automated graphics to fit FIBA’s branding. Functionality was also enhanced to befit the spirit of international competition, with score increases being paired with the flag of the team that scored, aiding the ease with which games can be followed.
The competition opened with Costa Rica vs. Jamaica, followed by Guyana vs. Nicaragua with both games receiving well over 20k views just on YouTube.
