Synergy Sports Partners with Swedish Basketball Federation To Drive Exposure of Top Tier Women’s Basketball

Synergy Sports has partnered with the Swedish Basketball Federation to become the exclusive content partner of the SBL Dam One division (the top women’s division in Sweden) and the Superettan One Division (the second division in men’s basketball).

In line with the ambitious vision for the FIBA Connected Stadium, the partnership includes the installation of market-leading Synergy Sports Automated Video Capture, EVO automated graphics to provide contextually-relevant data to enhance the fan viewing experience, and onsite instant replays available for referees.

The SBL Dam One division is the first women’s league in the region to employ this level of automated technology to produce live sporting fixtures. It is also in the women’s game in particular where the Federation has already experienced the benefits of automated video capture.

“The Swedish women’s national team used the technology when preparing for the EuroBasket championships. Sweden finished in 6th place, the best result ever for a Swedish national team.”

“It was particularly useful for our WNBA-player Amanda Zahui B., who could follow team practices from New York before she joined the team.” said Fredrik Joulamo, Head of the Swedish national teams.

“It feels great to have the FIBA Connected Stadiums in the Swedish women’s league. We can create highlights, help coaches develop players and take the league to the next level,” says Johannes Wohlert, Head of Communications at the Swedish Basketball Federation.

Discussing the partnership, Synergy Sports CEO Mark Silver said: “We’re excited to partner with the Swedish Basketball Federation at a time when basketball in the country looks to be gaining momentum. The team at the SBBF have proven to be forward-thinking, ambitious and diligent in implementing a solution that will benefit their sport across all levels.”

Synergy Sports Partnership Director Alistair Kemp said “It’s been brilliant to see how the FIBA Connected Stadium has not only been used to benefit top tier domestic women’s basketball in Sweden, but also in how the national team is able to bring players together remotely.”

Live games can be viewed with a subscription to Swedish OTT platform, Solidsport.
